COLLOQUIUM 668
Coherent structures in multiphysics flows: modelling, control and interpretation

1 July — 3 July 2026, Berlin, Germany

Round tables

Why round tables?

A defining characteristic of this colloquium is its informal and egalitarian structure, explicitly designed to foster open scientific exchange without hierarchical barriers. Instead of traditional keynote lectures, each day will feature a dedicated round table discussion moderated by an expert in the field. These sessions are intended to provide a structured yet open platform where participants can engage deeply with central questions of the community, encouraging dialogue across career stages and perspectives.

Preliminary themes

The round tables will each focus on a guiding question, reflecting the core scientific challenges of the colloquium. The themes are preliminary and subject to change:

  • Day 1: Limitations of simplified academic models — Are we capturing pertinent flow physics?
  • Day 2: Spectral methods in complex flows — How far can we push them?
  • Day 3: Data-informed modelling — Can we preserve physics in the age of data?

Moderators

Each round table will be led by several experienced member of the fluid mechanics community, ensuring both structure and openness in the discussion. The names of the moderators will be announced soon.
